Two questions account for most of what your front-of-house staff answer all day: where is the enclosure, and when is the feeding. A map that carries both, and that keepers can update the morning of, answers them before anyone has to ask.

Enclosures drawn to their real footprint

A habitat is an area, not a point. Visitors see how big it is and where the viewing sides are, instead of a pin dropped somewhere in the middle.

Times that can change today

A feeding moves, a talk is cancelled, an animal is off-show. Edit and publish and the map is right — a printed schedule cannot do this.

Search by the name visitors use

People search for penguins, not Spheniscidae. Search covers every field you define, so both work.

Bringing what you already have

Bring your existing enclosure and species list in as CSV, then draw the habitat outlines once. Enclosures change far less often than their contents, so this is close to a one-time setup.

Questions we get

Can we mark an animal as off-show for the day?
Yes — a boolean field on the enclosure, edited from a phone by whoever is on the ground. Visitors stop walking to an empty habitat, which is one of the more common complaints a paper map causes.
Does it work across a large site with patchy signal?
Once loaded, the map keeps working. Outdoor GPS is generally reliable across a zoo site, so the live position dot works where an indoor museum would struggle.
Can different teams maintain different areas?
Everyone with an editor role can edit anything in the venue today. Per-area permissions are not built yet — worth knowing if you have strictly separated teams.
